Remembering

Saturday, June 6th, is the sixty fifth anniversary of the Normandy invasion by Allied forces in World War II. Along with December 7th, 1941, it is one of the two dates regarding WWII that Americans tend to remember. The events of those days are well known—several popular films tried to bring those battles alive on the big screen:  Pearl Harbor (Tora!Tora!Tora!, Pearl Harbor) and the D-Day invasion (The Longest Day, Saving Private Ryan). American history classes in schools, if they mention any WWII action, usually refer to these two events.
